I am breaking up with winter. It's March now. Enough already, right?
I could watch them paint all day. This day, we were studying watercolor artists. My home, and especially their bedroom, is covered in kid paintings. I could watch them create all day.
All day.
Here, his fishes and their seaweed dinner.
We are down to eleven eggs.
I thought that my seven year old could help me turn them last night. They need to be turned three times daily. He picked up one of his favorites, the brightest pastel green one. He brought it closer to his face to have a look, and then it slipped from his hands.
It was one of those moments where I wanted anything but to be the adult in the room. Six or seven days from hatch, I figured the little chick couldn't make it, and with all of the blood coming from the egg, I knew there wasn't much we could do.
I am now the sole egg turner. I am ridiculously careful. And still utterly mortified.
My children miss the Olympics.
The snowboarding, specifically.
I am told that we will be seeing the sun, here in the midwest, over the next couple days. It has been grey here for thirty-seven months, I think. If I may make a request with the Powers That Be, now, I would like it to be a super blue incredibly sunny sky capable of melting the remaining slushy crud on the ground. And make it pop up my tulip buds, too.
I had a few sad days, recently, and out of the blue my four year old showed up with a card for me.
Okay it was a birthday party invitation that never made it into the mail last December, but he filled it out for me with his own letters, just the same. It reads:
"Dear Mom,
I love you.
And I know you will turn to the dark side.
Love,
Jackson"
It was perfect!
I have been playing Pink's Glitter In The Air song on repeat all day. It has nothing to do with the above picture. Unless you can imagine me twirling on silks above my children to get this picture. Then it totally does. I've watched it seven thousand times on YouTube today, here.
I need new music for a CD. We've been spending lots of time in the car lately. What do you have on repeat?

I am not really awake at this hour, I am sleeping. But if I were awake I would tell you that I love that you have the kids doing wonderful water coloring. I love to watch them create also.I would also agree that winter needs to go away and let us warm up again. I would tell you that I really am going to get that box in the mail to you, now good night my dear and I hope you are feeling a wave of happiness in your bones."Wave of happiness in your bones?" Um that's what happens when a person trys to make sense when they are sleeping and typing.

Laurie Berkner! Um, if you're looking for kids music. now I'm off to watch Pink...
Beware of the Dark Side! I think it's easy to turn to the Dark Side this time of year, winter needs to GO AWAY!
So sad, the loss of the little chicky - eek!

Oh that awful feeling as a mother when you see something precious slip from their grasp - literally or metaphorically. Love the card!

I love that song! I love anything / everything by Pink period.
Sorry that you've been down, I've had something like that going on with me too..maybe it's winter. I want to break up with it as well. RIGHT.NOW.
The card was sweet, and I'm so sorry to hear about the mishap with the baby chick egg. I can't wait for the remaining ones to hatch!
Have you listened to MUSE at all? The new Black Eyed Peas? Lady GaGa? Ke$ha (although she's borderline ANNOYING); some of those probably aren't 100% kid-friendly but I can tell you one thing, if you listen to Say Hey (I Love You) by Michael Franti & Spearhead I guarantee your frown will turn upside down! xoxo

Why did I leave that silly comment?

That poor little chick!
Love the snowboarding picture!
And the card...Jack sure can melt your heart!

Let's see - on repeat...Bad Romance Lady Gaga (not with kids around, of course), Anyway by Martina McBride, Haven't Met You Yet by Michael Buble, Please Don't Leave Me by Pink, Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da by the Beatles (don't ask me why...)

Hey Molly- Sorry, I just got your text. We miss you guys and can't wait to see you when we get back. How does next week look for you? Wed and Fri are open.
I LOVE that snowboarding pic. KJ is awesome. Sorry about the chick casualty. That must have been rough. He probably had a life threatening cardiac defect anyways and you spared him from a lifetime of misery.
Love Jack's card. I was thinking about going to the dark side too. I might also need an intervention.
As for the ipod, I like Falling for the First time by BNL, anything by Pink, I Do Not Hook Up by Kelly Clarkson, All Over You by Live, Crash by Dave Matthews, Meet Me Halfway by Black Eyed Peas, Burning Love by Elvis, The Riddle by Five for Fighting, Bubble Toes by Jack Johnson, You Found Me by The Fray, The Remedy by Jason Mraz, Waking Up in Vegas Katy Perry
See you soon, my friend!!!

Sorry to hear about the poor chickie! Garrett accidentally (?) smushed a robin egg last summer...although they were in for it anyway since the mother made her nest inside our (black, steaming hot in the sun) electric grill. Nice. And MUSIC!!! I could go on FOREVER...my current ipod repeats are "Hey, Soul Sister" by Train, "Rock and Roll" by Eric Hutchinson, "Won't Go Home Without You" by Maroon 5, "That's Not My Name" by The Ting Tings, "The Way I Am" by Ingrid Michaelson, "The Scientist" by Coldplay. Also loving Lady Gaga, Kings of Leon, and anything Bon Jovi right now (so I can sing at the top of my lungs at the Bon Jovi concert in 2 weeks, wheeeee!)

Sorry about the chickie. That would have been tough. As for the ipod...Lady Antebellum, awesome. I love Colbie Calliet, Norah Jones (although she can add to the depression a bit) Say Hey by Michael Franti, Kings of Leon, Usher, Hey Soul Sister, Tim Mcgraw, for the same reason Stacey is listening to Bon Jovi, which she did not invite her dear friend to go to with her, Uh hmmm, I already sang at my concert. Tim and lady A were awesome. Also Black Eyed Peas, some are good for kiddos to hear and some are not. I prefer the ones that aren't. The ting tings are awesome too. I could go on but I won't. Have a good day.
