Back when BlogHer '09 registration took place, I was barely past the hump of post-partum hormones and baby surgery, definitely still reeling from sleep deprivation. I didn't even know if I would have a blog in July of 09 with the way things were going, I reasoned with my ticket-holding partner-in-crime, and besides, Kevin and I were in the thick of building an eight month emergency fund, what with three kids and two houses and it being about damn time already. Unwilling to even renew our dearly loved zoo membership back then, there was no way I could dedicate several hundred dollars to a blog conference that I just attended two years prior.
And I was good with that for the moment, right up until the last several weeks when I began hearing about the fantasic people that would be there, and I realized that tickets were sold out. (Is it just me, or once you can no longer get your hands on something, is that not always when you begin to want it the most?)
I was bummed most of all when I learned that SJ and Amy would be flying in for the conference, having known them for so long and never before having the chance to meet.
But as fate (and these fantastic friends) would have it, we arranged to meet for dinner on Friday night.
They brought with them wonderful (and quite funny) Kelly and Jessie, and a whole bag loaded with conference swag for me!
We had a great evening together. Thanks girls!
Furthermore, Bree and I have tentatively planned ourselves for a mom's trip to New York next summer, for BlogHer 2010. Since neither one of us have ever visited the Big Apple, we've found ourselves a great reason, and plan to take it on by storm. ...In mom sweats. And flip-flops. Possibly a bit of foundation. The East-Coasters won't know what hit 'em.

Oh I did the same thing! I wanted to go and waited too long and was without a ticket. BOO!
I too drove up to Chicago for dinner with a couple of fabulous bloggers that I was so lucky to meet in person, finally.
SJ...I would have loved to meet you! (she's just so darn cute)
Maybe next year...

Ok. I officially claim tour guide responsibilities for you and Bree in NYC. I will also wear mom sweats. Perhaps we can bedazzle them.
Glad you got to meet some folks this weekend!

Thanks so much for picking us up and dragging us around town. It was very nice to meet you and have a good visit. I'm ready to buy my ticket for next year, so I know we'll see you there!

Dude, how lucky for them to get to meet you! You and Frema and a handful of other ladies were the only bright spot of BlogHer 2007 for me. NYC would be fun but I'm thinking it won't happen for me.

I can't say it enough: THANK YOU for taking time away from your family to meet up with us and have dinner. And navigating through the streets of Chi-Town too (that's a sucess in itself!). I had such a great time, and it was so nice to finally meet you. I can't wait for NYC!
