I accidentally dye everything within a three foot radius of my head black and all you people want are pictures? Ha! (You're my kind of friends.)
Sooooo, yes.
I bet you didn't even notice the dried baby puke near the neck of my sweatshirt, so this hair thing may be working for me after all.
I suppose now is the time to say there's no panic. I would prefer something more natural for our upcoming vacation, but it is what it is. I'm a stay at home mom with no boss, no clients, no judgy church ladies, and I am neither looking for a date nor do I seek the approval of random strangers in Target. I am wondering if now is the time to call on my tatoo artist younger brother, though. I could totally run with this theme.
I've been scrubbing at my forehead and have it to reasonable beneath makeup. Unfortunately the corners of my forehead are so dark that there'll be no ponytails until I can scrub that out a bit more. I'm going to try the suggestions of baby shampoo and rubbing alcohol and see where it gets me. (Will the rubbing alcohol turn some of those nearby hairs blonde, though?) I'm really afraid to re-dye it today, or even over the next few days because black I can handle, but orange or green would likely cause me to take clippers to my head, and then I'd have to take MORE pictures for you people.
When KJ woke up this morning and saw me, he went straight to my sister asking, "What did you do to my mom?!" And then he did the most natural thing for a six year old boy to do in this case:
He adjusted my Wii character to applicable hair color.
Pretty close, I'd say.

oh my. HAHAHAHA - okay, Braden would have totally done the same thing, adjusted the Mii. SO FUNNY!
You look pretty hip. Kinda goth. Totally cool!

You look smashing, and the fact that your son reacted by adjusting your Mii is adorable. Well played!

HILARIOUS.
And we call it "rubbernecking." Gapers! Never heard that one before.

i think it looks great! seriously. definitely no gray there.

It doesn't look that bad. At least you have dark eyebrows, so it "could" be natural.
I love how your son thought to change your Wii character. I know I wouldn't have thought about it!

Love it! He and Jacob would totally get along. They could spend all day makings wii's together:) Your hair doesn't look bad. I was expecting it to be much darker. have fun on your trip. When do you leave?
Posted by: Erica | 10 March 2009 at 04:05 PM
You hair really does not look bad at all. After a few washings to should fade some anyway. Since you have dark eyelashes it helps to make it look good.
I agree with you having black hair for you is a lot better than having some wild color. My favorite color might be purple but I do not want Purple Hair! LOL!!
Thanks for the pictures!! BTW, your son is so funny and you are right that is probably want any kid his age with a Wii would have done. Hey that Wii thing looks pretty cool. I have never seen or played with one so I do not know anything about them. LOL!!
Have fun on your trip, do not worry about your hair, and do not miss that sweet little girl to much or the handsome boys. LOL!! I hope you can sleep while you are there too! LOL!!
We will be looking for a post about how your trip went!!
Love,
Sheila

Uh, Molly...I really, really like it! "For serious" as my students say. It looks young and hip...not a look we mommy types get to claim too often. The color will fade some the more you wash it, but I really think it's cute. And I totally think you need a tattoo. (I have one. Do it.)
KJ = hilarious
Hope you have a great vacation!!

Your hair looks fine to me - but if you don't like it - call the number on the box or insert! Really! I mean, you don't have to follow their advice if you don't want to, right?

Thanks for the pic. Your hair looks fine. Now. And come to think of it, a video of the event would have been great on Funniest Home Videos!

Not that bad...Stay out in the sun a lot in CA and that will lighten it up and darken your skin and then there ya go - they'll match!
Changing the Wii is hilarious. And wait - it's downstairs now??
Any comments from Jack about the hair?

Honestly!? I think it looks good! Just a bit edgier then normal, but you wear it well!

Hee!! KJ cracks me up. My daughters tracked my last pregnancy on the Wii, making my Mii character progressively fatter as the months went by. Great boost to my self esteem, that.
I had to dye my (blonde) hair black once for a play I was in and even though I used the 24 washes kind of dye, it never, ever went back to the original color. Even the new growth was darker than it used to be.
Oh wait...you probably don't want to hear that. :)

I ditto what everyone else is saying. I think we were all expecting much worse. Yes, it's a change but you are totally rockin' it. Also, KJ is awesome!

I reallllly don't recommend trying to dye over it to accomplish a lighter shade. Unless you go and have it professionaly done, you can pretty much rest assured that it will not turn out well. I think it looks good anyway. Have a great trip!

Honestly? It looks great! I couldn't help laughing at your description of trying to wash it out, though. That there's my least favorite part of dyeing my hair: running my head under water for like 15 minutes while all the excess washes out.

If you won't do a ponytail, what about pigtails? You could leave the front part out to hide the colored parts of your forehead while also sporting a hip new look. I'm just sayin', you're rocking a new shade, why not a new 'do, too?
I think it's fun!

I actually love it. I think it looks really good on you. but no, the rubbing alcohol will not turn anything blonde....that would be peroxide that bleaches. rubbing alcohol helps get it off your face and hands....but the same day, not sure about the next day and so forth. I used to use it immediately after dying my hair and showering.
and are you sure it is your scalp or forehead that is dyed....and not baby hairs or peach fuzz (type hairs). if it is hair that is dyed, there is nothing you can do about that. the dye clings to anything as you have noticed. so it will either lighten up in the sun this weekend or lighten up as it wears away.
if there isnt amonia in the hair dye, you can dye more frequently without worrying about your hair falling out.
I think it looks great. now ya got me thinking....I havent dyed my hair in like 5 years. I so dont miss the mess....you described it to a tee! the mess on your face, hands, clothing, towels, and then all over the shower walls. yeah, maybe I will reconsider the whole hair dying thing.
But I love it, it looks pretty freaking awesome. And I love that KJ changed your wii character. too funny!!! =)
If I dont talk to you before you leave, have a great vacation! and hopefully we can get together sometime soon. love ya, freak. =)
